VAT number invalid

What you’re seeing: A VAT number that looks correct shows as invalid.

Quick check (2 minutes)

  1. Remove spaces, dots, and dashes
  2. Make sure the VAT number starts with the correct country code (e.g. NL, DE)
  3. Check the VAT number on the official VIES site
  4. Retry in a few minutes (VIES can have delays/outages)

Use Logs to confirm the result

The Logs tab shows the exact validation result returned by VIES or the Swiss UID register:

  1. Go to EU VAT Checker → Logs
  2. Filter by Result = Invalid
  3. Search by VAT number or order ID if needed
  4. Use Export as CSV for deeper analysis
