What you’re seeing: “Country mismatch” when customers enter a VAT number.
Fix
- Check the first 2 letters of the VAT number (country code)
- Make sure the billing country matches
- If the company has multiple VAT registrations, use the VAT number for the chosen billing country
Check the setting that controls mismatch behavior
- Go to EU VAT Checker → General Settings
- Find the country mismatch option under General VIES Settings
- Keep it enabled unless your accountant advises otherwise
