Country mismatch

What you’re seeing: “Country mismatch” when customers enter a VAT number.

Fix

  1. Check the first 2 letters of the VAT number (country code)
  2. Make sure the billing country matches
  3. If the company has multiple VAT registrations, use the VAT number for the chosen billing country

Check the setting that controls mismatch behavior

  1. Go to EU VAT Checker → General Settings
  2. Find the country mismatch option under General VIES Settings
  3. Keep it enabled unless your accountant advises otherwise
