Glossary

Clear definitions for technical terms used throughout this WooCommerce Bol.com integration documentation. Understanding these concepts helps you troubleshoot issues faster and configure your Bol.com connector WooCommerce setup correctly.

API (Application Programming Interface)

The secure communication channel that lets BridgeSync connect WooCommerce store to Bol.com without manual data entry. Think of it like a translator that automatically passes order data, stock levels, and product information between platforms. Your API credentials (Client ID and Client Secret) control access to this connection, ensuring only authorized apps can sync with your Bol.com account.

EAN (European Article Number)

The 13-digit barcode number that uniquely identifies products across all sales channels (example: 8710847909153). EAN codes are critical for automatic Bol.com product sync because BridgeSync matches your WooCommerce products to Bol.com listings by comparing EAN numbers. Without correct EAN codes in WooCommerce, products won't link and stock synchronization fails.

HPOS (High-Performance Order Storage)

WooCommerce's modern database system for storing orders, replacing the older WordPress post system. HPOS is required for BridgeSync to import Bol.com orders into WooCommerce because it provides faster, more reliable order processing. If HPOS isn't enabled in WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → Features, your WooCommerce to Bol.com sync cannot create orders automatically.

WP-Cron

WordPress's built-in task scheduler that runs background jobs like syncing with Bol.com every 15 minutes. WP-Cron triggers automatically when someone visits your site, which means low traffic sites may experience delayed syncing. If your WooCommerce Bol.com inventory management stops updating automatically but manual sync works, WP-Cron may need external monitoring to run reliably.

Client ID and Client Secret

Your unique API credentials from Bol.com that authorize BridgeSync to access your Bol.com seller account securely. The Client ID identifies your account (like a username), while the Client Secret proves you're authorized to access it (like a password). You find these in your Bol.com partner portal under Settings → API, and BridgeSync needs both to establish the connection when you sell on Bol.com through WooCommerce.

SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)

Your internal product identification code that you create and manage in WooCommerce. Unlike EAN codes which are universal, SKUs are unique to your store. Many WooCommerce stores use the SKU field to store EAN codes since it's convenient and always visible. In BridgeSync → Settings → Product Linking, you can configure whether your EAN codes are stored in the SKU field, GTIN field, or a custom field.
